Chess & Balance is a 2-player card game that fuses standard chess with elemental spell decks. Each player picks one of five elements and uses 9 unique spell cards to summon pieces, protect their King, disrupt their opponent, and reshape the game. HOW A TURN WORKS: Each turn has two phases: 🎴 Spell Phase (Optional) — Play a card, cycle a card, or spend Spirits to summon new pieces onto the board ♟️ Chess Phase (Mandatory) — Make one standard chess move Spirit is the resource that powers your deck. Every time your opponent plays a card, you gain Spirit equal to its cost. Higher-cost cards summon stronger pieces or trigger devastating effects. THE FIVE ELEMENTS: 🔥 Fire — Aggressive removal and board disruption 🌊 Water — Control, phase manipulation, card advantage 🌿 Nature — Pawn swarming, promotion chains, King protection 💨 Wind — Positional chaos and movement manipulation ⚡ Plasma — Global persistent effects that reshape rules for BOTH players The objective stays pure chess: capture ALL of your opponent's Kings.
